Review Text: Does the job. The Samson XPD Lavalier is a relatively low-tech piece of equipment that works well for what it does. The microphone unit itself isn't super high-end build quality, mostly plastic and some metal and is very light feeling but it doesn't have an integrated battery so that's a big reason why. You need two AA batteries that are not included, so once they are inserted the unit feels heavier. The USB dongle attaches to any PC or Mac and functions like any microphone device at that point. You will need to use recording or capture software to record. The dongle unit also has a stereo output which can be muxed into a more advanced AV or PA system or even a camera that has a microphone input for vlogging. Sound quality overall is clear and picks up well although there is a slight echo. Overall this unit does the job without any major bells or whistles. Definitely works better than a microphone on your phone if you are trying to do voice overs or speak to a larger audience.
