Review Text: One of Sony's Best, True Improvement of the MDR-1A. Over the years, I have purchased a number of headphones, from Audio-Technica, Sony, V-Moda, Philips, KRK, Beats, and Sennheiser. Before buying the Sony MDR-1AM2, I had owned the MDR-1A since about 2016, so I was expecting something similar. These headphones take everything that was great about the MDR-1A and completely improves upon it. Overall, this set of headphones offers exceptional sound with great comfort, allowing me to wear them for hours at a time. Bass is incredible, and will noticeably shake your ears at high volumes. These are able to reproduce bass notes so low they will mostly be felt and not heard. Mid range is also great, though a little recessed (this is pretty common for similar sounding headphones). Highs are phenomenal, without being piercing or harsh. These have become my go-to pair of headphones over the past year, when I want to listen to something that is exciting and engaging. They are not as "studio-monitor-esque" as most of my other headphones, and that is one of the main reasons they make listening to music so enjoyable. I also use them for watching movies and playing video games: it makes both activities absolutely amazing. Lastly, comfort with these is great. The ear pads are super soft memory foam, with a decent sized cut out for your ears. I can wear them for 3-4 hours before I feel like I might want to readjust them. I recently flew with them, and they also did a decent job of blocking out a bit of noise in the cabin. I would recommend this pair to anyone looking for an exceptional set of wired headphones with an amazing sound signature.
