Review Text: Super Secure, Portable, & Fast Storage. Fast transfer rate. Super small it fits in the palm of your hand. Fingerprint scanner for security. What more can you ask for in an external storage device? A nice technological and security implementation on Samsung's part was to include a fingerprint scanner on the external hard drive to allow for hardware encryption. It is quicker than traditional USB 3.0 devices since it uses a newer standard, USB 3.2 Gen 2 via a USB C port. It is extremely efficient for backing up thousands of files (for those of us who do backups once or twice a year, myself included) and great for those who have a routine backup. I conducted a small test to examine an every day type of difference between a standard USB 3.0 external drive (a non SSD, uses a spinning disk inside) and the Samsung T7 Touch SSD. In the test I used a laptop with a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port and a USB 3.1 Gen 2 USB C port. What I found was that the average transfer rate was much quicker when using the Samsung T7 Touch and using USB C to USB C. Even when compared to a standard external HDD, it is much quicker using the USB A port. If you would like to see the results of the test, see the attached photograph. One thing I wanted to note (small detail) about Samsung's packaging that I really appreciated was 2 USB cables were included, a USB C to USB C and USB C to the standard USB Type A cable. Not many manufacturers do this anymore and I wanted to point it out as something nice Samsung included for their customers. So in the end, is this hard drive worth to get for the price? Its worth it for those who look to carry this device for a long time. It is reliable (ssd technology vs disks spinning), compact, secure, and a speedy drive. I don't buy external hard drives very often and I would definitely consider it if you are looking for the above qualities in an external hard drive.
